Scottish Ballet does Hansel and Gretel

This weekend I was lucky enough to be invited to see the new production of Hansel and Gretel performed by the Scottish Ballet.

We started the day at the charming Blythswood Hotel for afternoon tea and a few short films showing the behind the scenes preparation that goes into such a production. Afternoon tea was nothing short of divine with far too many cakes and sandwich's to choose from.

We also got a close up look at the stunning Dew Drop fairy costume, absolutely stunning. I can wear this on my next night out,no?

We were then whisked off to the Theatre Royal for an afternoon matinee of the show. I was far too excited by this point and could not contain my excitement. The orchestra were warming up and the hall was filling up. The atmosphere was filled to bursting with excitement!

The sets, dancers and costumes are mesmerising, I did not take my eyes off the stage throughout the show. My favourite piece from the show was the Sandman solo, his costume twinkling under the lighting, and the way he moved across the stage, Speechless!

I would highly recommend you get along to see this show, it is a great way to break into the world of ballet. It can be found below;

  1. Looks like an amazing time! We would have loved to see the costumes and makeup in person.
